GWA host BASC Ladies day
The GWA hosted an introduction to wildfowling for Ladies day on Monday 3rd December with the ladies getting a guided tour of WWT Slimbridge, chance to get out on a flight at the clubs marshes and an evening meal at the Anchor Inn, Epney.
In spite of the terrible traffic issues on the local motorway network all Ladies attending this event had a fantastic time, there was a variety of shooting experience amongst the participants ranging from shooting driven game to shooting clays but all were new to the world of wildfowling and have hopefully gone away from the event with a desire to take their wildfowling experience further.
Many thanks to everyone who helped out on the day and made this event such an enjoyable experience for all the Ladies who attended.
The junior evening flight at Wainlodes was judged to be a great success with all the youngsters that attended getting shots in and four mallards in the bag come the end of the evening, many thanks to everyone who helped organise this event and made the evening so special for tomorrows generation of wildfowlers.
Wildfowl ID Course
Congratulations to all those associate members who took part in and passed the annual wildfowl ID course held at WWT Slimbridge. The course had been held over 4 Sundays and culminated in a final test on Sunday December 2nd. Those who passed are now one step closer to gaining their full membership so once again many congratulations.
And once again many thanks for the effort put in by the course organisers in both running the course over the weeks preceding the test and in organising the test itself. Its thanks to you and the effort that you have made that the GWA has its next generation of wildfowlers
Tide table issues
As I'm sure you're all well aware by now, some of the tide tables that the club has had printed are giving incorrect tide times and tidal heights. If you have a tide table which is showing incorrect tidal ranges then please contact Nic Ling who has managed to get new tide tables printed giving the correct tidal information for our marshes on the Severn estuary.
Ian Whitehall will be putting in another clothing order for anyone wanting any items from the clubs increasingly popular range of GWA branded merchandise. This order will go to the suppliers before Christmas with clothing available for collection in the new year, All orders and payments to Ian please.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
And finally may we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year for 2019, hopefully you've all had an enjoyable season so far and will manage to get out on the marshes over the Christmas break.
Merry Christmas everyone.
